CCTV/VIDEO SURVEILLANCE

Who just crashed thru your entry gate? There has just been a robbery, or worse yet, an abduction. Who entered and left your community during the time that occurred? Who is in your pool or clubhouse after hours? Are there illegal activities taking place on your property that you are not aware of? Somebody claims they were injured on your property. Were they, or are they just trying to make some money off of you and your insurance company? Who just stole some products at your business? Are your employees pilfering your stock when you are not looking? If you don’t have a video surveillance system you can’t answer these questions, and even if you think you can, you can’t prove it in a court of law.

With the advent of digital technology and micro-miniaturization, along with advances in wireless technology and computer networking, sophisticated CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) systems are readily available to businesses, community associations and individuals at an affordable cost. Today’s technology allows you to use either hidden cameras, or to make them very visible as a deterrent. You can use either fixed focus cameras or PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) to give you the best view of any location and situation you want to cover. You can use license plate cameras, to capture the license plate of every vehicle that enter and/or leaves your property. Need to see what is going on at night? IR (infrared cameras) can “see in the dark”. As you can see, there is no end to the number of options you can employ to capture exactly the images you need to secure your property.

Once you have chosen the cameras you need, how will you record it? The newest technology for this is the DVR (Digital Video Recorder). With a DVR you can record and time stamp as much as 30 days or more of video. It can be set to record only when it senses motion, so you don’t have to scan long stretches of “no change” video. It can monitor and record multiple cameras simultaneously. You can zoom in and look at the results frame by frame to obtain exactly the information you need. When you find what you want, you can transfer the video to a VCR tape or computer. Don’t worry if your cameras are far from your monitoring site. You can get the signal from the cameras to the DVR via a wired connection, by using wireless technology, or over the Internet. You, and anyone else you authorize, can even remotely monitor what the cameras are seeing via the Internet.
